Black Forest Inn, Minneapolis

Black Forest Inn, Minneapolis
Where: Black Forest Inn (www.blackforestinmpls.com)
Date: 13 August 2010
Type: Veal
Price: $24

Underneath a healthy serving of gravy with mushrooms, was a slice of veal.  I expected the veal portion to be breaded, as with the previous schnitzel dish I've had, but apparently that wasn't the case with the Jager Schnitzel.

On each end of the veal were two bread dumplings. These were very thick and condense and was a bit of a struggle for me to eat.  Lost on the war on the second dumpling.

Although the price was a bit steep, I can guarantee you that you won't be hungry after eating this dish - in fact, it will fill you before the meal's done.

Type: Chicken schnitzel

Price: $12 every day price

Pretty good deal for $12 but the schnitzel was a bit over cooked and god damn the dish was salty, almost died of dehydration later that night.

International Hotel, Spring Hill, Brisbane

International Hotel, Spring Hill, Brisbane

Date: 6th June 2010
Type: Chicken Parmigiana
Price: 2 for the price of 1: $10 each
With: Salad.

Salad was lame and tasted old from memory, parmigiana serving size was on the small side but you can't really go wrong for $10.

Paddington RSL

Paddington RSL, Paddington, Sydney
Date: 30th July 2010
Type: Chicken
Price: $13
With: Chips and salad

Well... a fairly horrid schnitzel by any standards. Might have been acceptable if it was priced at about $4. Thin and tasteless and small.

Paddintgon RSL has a crap atmosphere, angry locals and over-priced beers for an RSL. Not to mention the very weird food ordering procedure: pay at the bar, take the receipt to the bistro and line-up to hand over your receipt THEN wait about 20 minutes for them to deep fry a cheap piece of crumbed meat.

All in all.... a very energy intensive evening. Lazy people beware.

Paddo Tavern

Paddo Tavern Paddington, Brisbane

Date: 18.5.2010
Price: $24 (but 2 for 1 meals - for some reason)
Type: Chicken
With: Chips and salad

Well... could this have been the most boganic pub that i've ever been to? Stools with saddles instead of flat surfaces to put ones bottoms on. An over-arching cowboy theme. mmm Pig racing?

Anyway... the schnitzel, although on the small side, was quite tasty. The chips were also tasty. Not so sure about the excess spring onion all over the shop. For $24 this would have been quite the rip-off, but when its  2 for 1 deal, you really cant go wrong.

Bavarian Bier Cafe

Bavarian Bier Cafe, York St, Sydney
Date: 8th May, 2010
Type: Chicken
Price: $24.50
With: Salad (some variety of lettuce and three slices of radish), lemon, warm potato salad and mystery sauce.

So.... really.... for $25 I was really quite unimpressed with this meal. Small and kinda tasteless. The mystery sauce was quite nice, but the potato salad didn't rate, in my books.
The venue was big and loud and the service was kinda shite. Not to mention having to endure various hens night (although i was impressed by the group of girls that instead of helping their friend off the floor took photos of her when she fell backwards off her chair).
