Leichhardt Bowling Club, Leichhardt
Date: 28th April 2013
Type: Chicken
Price: $15
With: gravy and salad (Note: it usually comes with chips)

What a splendid location to indulge in a schnitzel. I must note that this wasn't consumed by me, but i heard no complaints! The salad was fresh and the schnitzel (although the standard "love heart" shape) was cooked perfectly.
What made this schnitzel so brilliant, was the location. Have you ever been to Leichhardt bowling club? Sure it's right under the flightpath into Sydney Airport, but it's like stepping back a decade or two. The drinks are so cheap and the club building itself smells like an old person's wardrobe. However, if you ever get the opportunity to play bowls there... do it! The greens are immaculate.
A lovely afternoon in the sun.

The Exchange Hotel, Hamilton

The Exchange Hotel, Hamilton, Newcastle
Date: 20th April 2013
Price: $17.90
Type: chicken parmigiana
With:  chips and salad

Well, I had high hope for this considering the price... but no. Generally unimpressed. The schnitzel was cooked nicely an the chips with thick and cooked perfectly, but there was nothing about this meal to set it apart from any other schnitzel meal I'd eaten. The menu did have quite a variety of different schnitzel toppings, but i wanted to try the less adulterated version. The tomato in the salad had obviously been frozen... but the cucumber and salad dressing made up for it.

Quote of the meal: "I'd pay extra to just have iceberg lettuce in my salad"

Haymarket Hotel, Haymarket, Sydney
Date: 5th April 2013
Price: $14.50 (Friday special)
Type: chicken parmigiana
With: bacon, chips and "salad"

I'm now very much regretting not eating dumplings after eating this specimen. It's been quite a while since I'd had a schnitzel and the quality of the food at the Haymarket Hotel made me wish that I had extended the schnitzel drought further. The schnitzel itself was acceptable, but everything else was sub par. Burnt bacon, minimal cheese, too many tomatoes and the "salad" was simply lettuce. Let's just say that it's highly unlikely that I'll be eating there again.

Let's just be thankful that we didn't order the pasta; it looked even worse.
