Northern Star Cafe

Northern Star Cafe, Beaumont St, Hamilton
1. Schnitzel Boscaiola

2. Stuffed something-or-other (probably veal, as i dont think my mother eats chicken)

Date: 23rd of November, 2007
Type: 1. Chicken and 2. (probably) Veal
With: 1. Boscaioloa sauce and veggies, 2. stuffed with cheesy stuff, with a cheesy looking sauce and served with veggies.
Price: I can't really remember, they were definitely less than $20 though
Review:This is a lovely little café with some top quality Italian food. The schnitzel itself was very tasty and quite good value for money. Not as big as they come, but definitely not uber-processed crap.
The veggies were fairly average, but the wine was good and the several beers at the pub previously. mmmm oh... and the gelato on the way out. mmmm

The Exchange Hotel

The Exchange Hotel, Hamilton, Newcastle
Date: 13th November, 2007
Type: Chicken
With: Bosciola sauce, chips and salad
Review: Very tasty, the snito's of the Exchange have been calling me back for over 2 years now, recently the size of them has reduced somewhat but as you can see they are still a very healthy portion! Definitely worth a crack.
Now that I have my regular camera phone back in business I shall send a few more in.
Hooroo,

Griffen's Head Hotel - Adelaide

Griffen's Head Hotel - Adelaide
Date: November 9th, 2007
Price: $15.90
Type: Chicken
With: parmigiana, cheese, chips and salad

...WOW.

This was a great schnitty, not often do I go for the Parmigiana option, however in this case, its was pretty damn good. Chicken was thick and suculant. Anyone in the Adelaide area, I highly recommend dropping in and having a go at one of these. Very good size too. Delicious!

The Quarrymans Hotel

The Quarrymans Hotel, Pyrmont

Date: 28th October 2007
Type: Chicken and Chicken Parmigiana
Price: $13.00
With: potato salad and greenery (and some onion)

It was a nice change to not have chips with the schnitzel but the schnitzel itself could have been a little better. I was slightly hungover on this occasion, so the oiliness really hit the spot. However, John seemed to think this was quite a special schnitzel (he's not been to the White Cockatoo though).

Oxley Hotel - Dooralong Valley

Oxley Hotel - Dooralong Valley
Date: October 28th, 2007
Price: $16.50
Type Chicken
With: Mushroom Sauce, Chips, Salad

The schnitty was slightly small, so initial glance was not so favourable. However, the flavour and texture was excellent! Chips were good and the mushrooms were chunky and not over cooked like often are.

Certainly one of the best schnitties I've had in a while, could have been bigger, but smaller is better for my waist line...
